On January 1, 2025, a 26-year-old Palestinian man, Khattab Mohammad Ismail Al-Sarhan Daraghmeh, was killed after being shot by Israeli occupation forces during a dawn raid on the village of Al-Lubban ash-Sharqiya, south of Nablus. His body was subsequently detained by Israeli authorities.

According to the village council, Israeli forces opened fire at the southern entrance of the village along the Nablus–Ramallah road, wounding two young men. One of them, Daraghmeh, was critically injured and later pronounced dead. The Palestinian Civil Affairs Authority informed the Ministry of Health that Israeli authorities are withholding his body.

The head of the village council, Yaqoub Awais, said the second young man was shot four times while attempting to rescue Daraghmeh. He was transported to Salfit Governmental Hospital, where his condition was reported as stable.

Local sources confirmed that the shooting occurred during an Israeli military raid on the village in the early morning hours.
