The strike comes just one day after Iran and the United States finalized a memorandum of to end the war on all fronts, including in Lebanon. **Hadi statement on X in the evening:** "Hadi Hoteit | هادي حطيط @HadiHtt Israeli drones targeted me while I was clearly filming a report in an open space with all requirements (press signs on the car, vest and helmet with press signs, cellphones open and not doing anything else. I was told that Lebanese army was blocking the road somewhere, so i went there searching for where the Lebanese army is. I stopped at Arnoun-Yohmor-Kfartebnit roundabout because i didn't want to go further. I got outside my car, with my cameras in the cage and my microphone with PressTV logo. I was filming when the Israeli drones deliberately attacked where I was standing, and not my car. Two brave men were able to come to my rescue after about 15 to 20 minutes. I was trying to get away from my car as I was expecting they might retarget it. 6 shrapnels hit my body (1 right chest, 3 right leg, 2 left leg). I am better now. Targeting journalists is a war crime. I wish if any international legal side was able to benefit from this video to Glory to the resistance, our only hope in front of those zionist criminals" ** Journalists organizations statements:** The Union of Journalists in Lebanon (UJL) strongly condemned the direct targeting of the journalist by Israel. *“[...] This strike comes at a time of greatest need for journalistic documentation of Israeli crimes in South Lebanon. The Union considers the attack to be part of an ongoing Israeli policy of targeting journalists who bear witness to its crimes.”* The UJL called on the Lebanese government to take action to document Israeli crimes and to open judicial investigations into them. IFJ General Secretary, Anthony Bellanger, added: *“We have consistently condemned the repeated threats and attacks by the Israeli army against journalists in Lebanon and Palestine, which are aimed at silencing their reporting. We stand in solidarity with our colleague, Hadi Hoteit, and wish him a swift and full recovery. The IFJ will continue to pursue justice and accountability to ensure that attacks on journalists do not go unpunished.”*

West Bank, Nablus, Duma 13 June, 2026
On June 13, 2026, a 29-year-old Palestinian man diagnosed with a mental disorder was shot by Jewish settlers at a settlement outpost near the village of Duma, south of Nablus in the occupied West Bank. Haaretz, citing an Israeli defense official, reported that the owner of a nearby Israeli settlement farm and another individual fired warning shots after the man allegedly approached the outpost. When he did not turn back, they opened fire, wounding him. The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said Israeli forces prevented its ambulance crews from reaching the wounded man for more than an hour. During that time, according to Duma council head Suleiman Dawabsha, Israeli soldiers handcuffed the man's hands and feet and kept him in custody, blocking medical teams from providing first aid. After the delay, Palestinian medics were finally allowed to evacuate him to a hospital in Nablus. Arson of the agricultural lands of Taybeh

West Bank, Ramallah, Al-Taybeh 09 June, 2026
On June 9, 2026, at the end of the evening, gangs of Israeli settlers set fire to agricultural land on a hillside at the outskirts of the Palestinian Christian village of Taybeh, east of Ramallah in the central occupied West Bank. These groups approached the area from nearby outposts and ignited dry fields and olive‑growing terrain, causing visible flames and smoke before residents were able to reach the site. No injuries were reported, but villagers said the attack created fear among families living on the eastern edge of Taybeh and damaged agricultural land relied upon by local farmers. **Broader context:** The attack comes amid a documented surge in colonizer violence across the Ramallah district, particularly in the eastern rural corridor stretching from Deir Jarir and Al‑Mughayyir to Kafr Malik, Ras al‑Teen, Wadi al‑Seeq, and the Bedouin communities east of Taybeh. Settlers have repeatedly attempted to seize hilltops, block access roads, intimidate shepherds, and burn farmland in an effort to expand outposts and pressure Palestinian communities to abandon their land. **Timeline of the incidents:** At 09:00, the occupation forces set up a checkpoint near the entrance to the town of Taybeh, and the checkpoint was repeatedly set up at 14:00 to search vehicles and verify citizens’ identities. At 11:20, the occupation forces stormed the town of Taybeh and conducted a patrol. At 20:35, a group of settlers on the eastern side of the town of Taybeh set fire to citizens’ agricultural lands, and also opened fire randomly at citizens, while they were trying to go to put out the fire. 4. At 21:10, a group of settlers entered the Jabas area, east of the town of Taybeh, beat the citizen: Rami Yaqoub Kuna, and stole his (cell phone). **According to some [testimonies](https://x.com/SOSCdOrient/status/2065012750703640640?s=20)**, Palestinian firefighters dispatched to the scene were unable to access the site because they lacked the necessary security coordination permits. This delay allowed the fire to spread, threatening agricultural land and nearby properties. “Faced with the urgency of the situation, several young people from the town took the initiative to bring in a water tanker truck in order to contain the fire. Instead of being allowed to provide assistance, they were surrounded and prevented from intervening by settlers. The situation then quickly deteriorated when another group of young people was targeted. Several people were physically assaulted, two vehicles were damaged, and a mobile phone was stolen,” explained Father Bashar Fawadleh, the Latin parish priest of Taybeh. According to Souleiman Khoury, mayor of Taybeh, residents heard gunfire near the affected area, which prevented them from reaching the site to try to contain the blaze. The fire was ultimately brought under control only after the required coordination procedures had been completed. The arrival of the Israeli police and army also helped prevent the fire from spreading further and led to the departure of the attackers. “What we are experiencing today is not a matter of isolated incidents. Residents speak of an increase in settler attacks in recent days, carried out using quad bikes and off-road vehicles. These patrols now reach, with complete impunity, the center of the village, residential neighborhoods, and the main roads. On June 2, a group of settlers was spotted in the northeastern area near Orthodox Housing Road, where they reportedly blocked access routes and interrupted the construction of a new house. On June 3, at around 9:45 a.m., they were again seen driving through several parts of the town, including the main thoroughfare, all the way to the vicinity of Saint George’s Church.

In another recording, settlers are seen in the village of Einabus and, according to local reports, they threw stones and attacked a residential home. In Asira al-Qibliya, settlers were documented, some in Sabbath shirts and others masked in black clothing, holding batons. Another recording shows a large group raiding quarries between Asira al-Qibliya and the village of Urif. This week, the IDF decided to dismiss the security coordinator (Rashatz) of the Yitzhar settlement after armed settlers prevented a Palestinian harvest, even though it had been coordinated with the Civil Administration. In Palestinian footage from the scene, armed settlers were seen blocking the main road and pointing weapons at Palestinian vehicles. The IDF said the coordinator was dismissed “due to repeated incidents of exceeding authority and repeated warnings on the matter.” Since then, over several days there has been an increase in incidents in the area, including arson attacks near Palestinian villages, peaking on Saturday morning."

According to medics and Palestinian officials, the family was driving home from Bethlehem when soldiers shot at their car near Tel Rumeida. Sam was struck in the jaw by a bullet that passed through his body and wounded his mother. His father was also injured in the hand. The infant was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead. His grandmother, Sam Abu Haikal, said the family had taken the Wadi al-Hariya road to avoid traffic and that the vehicle was completely stopped when the shooting occurred. Witnesses and Palestinian sources told local media that soldiers stationed in the area opened fire on the vehicle as it passed through the neighborhood. “We were on our way back from Bethlehem to Hebron when an Israeli soldier opened fire directly at us from less than 10 meters away, even though the car was fully stopped and posed no threat,” she said. “Sam had just completed his seventh month on the day he was killed. The bullet pierced his jaw and lodged in his mother’s body. We did nothing to warrant this, and we do not know why they shot at us.” In an interview with Israeli newspaper Haaretz, the father, Fahd Abu Haikal, a lecturer at Bethlehem University, said that “a bullet passed through his hand and struck his son, Sam, who was being held by his mother in the back seat”. Abu Haikal said the family, which also included the couple’s 11-year-old son and Abu Haikal’s mother, had been driving through Hebron on Friday evening when soldiers signalled for the vehicle to stop.it was still daylight and that the soldier who opened fire could clearly see the occupants were a family. “The soldier signalled me to stop. I brought the car to a complete halt and raised my hands on the steering wheel. Immediately afterwards, they opened fire on the vehicle,” he told Haaretz. The Israel Defense Forces first claimed its troops “perceived a vehicle accelerating toward them” and one of the soldiers “responded with single shots toward the vehicle”. The Israeli military later confirmed that the family were “uninvolved civilians” and said “the incident is under review” and expressed “deep sorrow for any harm caused to uninvolved individuals”. Abu Haikal rejected the military’s account: “The soldier was about 10 metres away from me. He saw me, he saw my wife and the children,” he told Haaretz. ‘‘The windows were not tinted, it was broad daylight and everything was clear. You can’t say he didn’t see that it was a family. “I stopped as I was instructed to, and then they simply shot at the car,” he added. “There was no clear checkpoint, just soldiers standing in the street. I stopped when I was asked to, and then the shooting started". Abu Haikal called for an investigation and said the soldier responsible should be held to account. “I demand and expect, if there is any conscience, any law, any morality, that the soldier who fired the shots will be held accountable for his actions. This case must not be closed without an investigation and without accountability. At the very least, I do not intend to give up.”

Israeli seizure of Beaufort Castle (Qalaat al-Shaqif)

Lebanon, South Lebanon 31 May, 2026
On May 31, 2026, Israeli forces captured the historic Beaufort Castle in southern Lebanon for the first time in 26 years, marking a symbolic moment in an escalating military campaign. Troops raised the Israeli flag over the hilltop fortress under cover of white phosphorus smoke, a move widely interpreted as psychological messaging rather than strategic necessity. The site, once used by various forces including the PLO and heavily contested during Israel’s earlier 1982–2000 occupation of southern Lebanon, carries strong historical and emotional weight for both Lebanese and Israelis. The takeover came amid a renewed Israeli offensive across southern Lebanon, following a largely ineffective ceasefire. The advance was accompanied by intensified airstrikes, including heavy bombardment of the coastal city of Tyre. For many Lebanese residents and officials, the loss of Beaufort Castle evoked memories of the long Israeli occupation of southern Lebanon from 1982 to 2000. The incident was described locally as a deep psychological blow, symbolizing vulnerability even in places once considered defensible. Meanwhile, Hezbollah and Lebanese authorities condemned the escalation but appeared unable to halt the military advance, as residents once again fled their homes amid widening conflict.
