Building collapsed at dawn after intense shelling in Al-Maghazi refugee camp

Two civilians were killed and at least five civilians were injured, some critically, and others remain missing after a four-story residential building collapsed at dawn on January 5 in the Al-Maghazi refugee camp, central Gaza.

The building, belonging to the Al-Shana family, had been previously damaged by Israeli airstrikes and collapsed due to the intense israeli bombardment east of Al-Maghazi and across eastern Gaza, according to the Palestinian Civil Defense in Gaza.

Rescue teams and residents searched through the rubble throughout the day, recovering two bodies, later identified as Ibrahim Al-Shana and his child Mohammad. Medical sources warned the death toll may rise as rescue efforts continue amid severe shortages of equipment and fuel.

On January 6, funeral held for the bodies of Palestinian Ibrahim Al-Shanna and his child Mohammad. Several Palestinians were injured and dozens remain missing. At least five people were injured in the incident, some of them in critical condition, while rescue teams and residents continue searching for those trapped under the rubble.

Medical sources warned that the number of casualties could rise as efforts to reach those buried under debris continue, hampered by a lack of fuel, machinery, and safe passage for ambulances. Families of the missing gathered at the site, desperately awaiting news of their loved ones.
