08 January, 2026
West Bank, Nablus, Al-Ta’wan

On Januarui 8, Israeli occupation forces began demolishing two houses in the Upper Ta’awon area of Nablus city.

According to security sources, the forces, accompanied by three military bulldozers, stormed the neighborhood and started demolishing homes belonging to Ashraf Khattab and Laith Nael Al-Abed. The homeowners had previously been issued evacuation orders on December 12.

Last month, the occupation forces forced six families to evacuate their homes in Upper Ta’awon Street in preparation for demolition.

Al-Abed told WAFA in a previous interview that his house, along with 10 other homes containing 2–4 families each, has been under threat of demolition since 2021. Families maintain that their homes are located in Area B according to official maps, while the occupation claims they are in Area C.

Reports indicate that the occupation forces notified several additional homes in the same area of imminent demolition, citing construction in areas classified as Area C.

During the demolition operations, several journalists suffered from suffocation after Israeli forces fired tear gas while they were covering the events.

Following the demolition of three Palestinian residential buildings, the occupation forces issued a demolition notice for an under-construction building in the Al-Ta’awun Al-Alwi neighborhood of Nablus.
