But…more than 300,000 families were in need of immediate shelter when the cessation of constant bombings began, and since then another 42,000 shelters were destroyed from the winter storms, adding to the needs. When a new tent is not available, or when the tent is easily salvaged by covering it with a water proof tarp, we take this option in order to save tents for those most in need. A large tarp can be installed and secured over a current tent or structure to stop rain from leaking in. On December 21, The Sameer Project provided and installed 20 tarps for $38 each for a total of $758 after 9% commission in order to provide protection from the rain at Al-Karama Camp Central Gaza.
