Event Notes

Night attack on school facilities in Jalud

Early on the morning of January 9, 2026, Israeli settlers infiltrated the Jalud Mixed Secondary School in the village of Jalud, south of Nablus in the occupied West Bank and set fire to a classroom, causing significant material damage. After starting the fire, they sprayed racist and hostile slogans in Hebrew on the school walls before fleeing. Local villagers were able to extinguish the fire.

In related attacks on the same morning, settlers also set fire to several Palestinian vehicles, notably in the nearby village of Bazaraya north of Nablus.

That such settler attacks on Jalud, its school, and Palestinian properties have occurred repeatedly over recent years (since the beginning of 2023), as part of a broader pattern of violence in the West Bank.
