Barta'a (برطعة) is Palestinian village located in the northern triangle area and Nahal Iron. The Green Line separating Israel and the West Bank splits the village into two parts. She residents of Barta'a faced challenges related to this bifurcation, impacting their social and economic interactions.

The separation wall's route creates enclaves within the West Bank. Their combined area is the designated "seam zone", which lies between the separation wall and the Green Line (the 1967 borders). Palestinians who live inside the seam zone have been put under a permit regime, restricting their movement within the wall-dissected West Bank. This situation exists although the seam zone is not a separate unit: its habitants maintain close ties with the rest of the West Bank population – encompassing areas of family, education, economy and health among others. The town of Barta'a is located behind the apartheid annexation and expansion wall built on Jenin Governorate land, and is continuously subjected to abuses by the occupation authorities, including the demolition of homes and facilities under the pretext of unpermitted construction.

Furthermore, the occupation authorities impose tight restrictions on the movement of citizens through the Barta'a military checkpoint at the town's entrance, preventing the entry and exit of residents on a near-daily basis except with special permits, which exacerbates the residents' suffering and restricts their daily lives.

On February 10, 2026, Israeli forces demolished two Palestinian homes in the town of Barta’a, southwest of Jenin, in the northern West Bank. Bulldozers backed by military units razed structures belonging to the Kabaha family, citing a lack of building permits. Residents said nearby homes were threatened with future demolition notices. The report notes a broader surge in demolitions and military pressure in Barta’a in recent weeks.

On February 10–11, 2026, military bulldozers brought down multiple Palestinian structures. The operation included three homes belonging to two Palestinian families, again under the pretext of lacking Israeli permits. The article links the demolition campaign to broader Israeli policy moves, including repealing land‑sale restrictions in the West Bank.

In the nearby Ya'bad town, Israeli forces assaulted several young men after raiding the area and storming several shops there.

On June 8, 2026, around 11:00 AM, six Israeli bulldozers demolished 8 houses including 2 inhabited houses and 6 houses under construction, under the pretext of not having a license (known by their owners): Shadi Yaqoub Qabha, Ahmed Ayed Masoud, Youssef Ayed Masoud, and Uqba Farid Qabha (2 houses), and in the name of Othman Qabha. Israeli forces accompanied by military vehicles proceeded to demolish the homes after forcing the owners to evacuate. The demolished structures included two inhabited homes and six under-construction houses. The demolition orders issued by the occupation authorities target 20 homes in the town, which house approximately 20 families totaling more than 100 individuals.

Confrontations erupted in the area during the demolitions after homeowners and local residents gathered on rooftops in an attempt to prevent the bulldozers from carrying out them, while Iraeli soldiers fired toxic tear gas canisters to disperse them.

The Barta'a Municipality had filed an appeal before an Israeli court against the demolition orders; however, the court rejected the appeal and summarily approved the demolition of 14 out of the 20 targeted homes. According to the mayor, around 120 homes in the town remain threatened with demolition after their owners received stop-work or evacuation notices in preparation for their demolition.
