"BREAKING: While some EU Member States were busy looking inward, Israel's government today approved a further 12,000 settlement housing units, enough to accommodate approximately 54,000 additional settlers, alongside ILS 8 billion (approximately USD 2.2 billion) in infrastructure designed to entrench Israel's unlawful presence in occupied Palestine. All States have a duty not to recognize as lawful the situation created by serious breaches of international law, not to aid or assist in maintaining it, and to cooperate to bring it to a rapid and unconditional end. A comprehensive ban on the importation of settlement-produced goods and services is the bare minimum required to give effect to those obligations. As Israel accelerates settlement expansion under a government led by Netanyahu and Smotrich, who are subjects of ICC arrest warrants, the EU remains behind the pace of events. Hesitation is read in Israel not as diplomacy, but as permission to deepen annexation, expand colonization, and further deny the Palestinian people's right to self-determination.
