""Today, the blood of Christians and Muslims is mixed together in one scene," said Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for Gaza's Civil Defence, after an Israeli occupation airstrike before dawn on Saturday hit an inhabited apartment in the Al-Asala building in western Gaza City, killing five Palestinians, four of them women. Among them were Mary Hafez Abu Dawood and her daughter Maysaa, members of Gaza's Christian community, along with Dr. Yasmin Al-Bobo, her mother Hloum, and a young man, Bilal Khalil Odeh. Mary and Maysaa were buried from the Greek Orthodox Church of Saint Porphyrius, the same church the Israeli occupation army bombed in October 2023, killing 18 displaced people sheltering inside. Basal said he still remembers his crews pulling bodies from its rubble. Speaking at the funeral, he called the strike a crime and said no one has the right to hold a death sentence over any civilian in Gaza. The killings come a year into a ceasefire the Israeli occupation has never stopped violating. At least 30 Palestinian Christians have been killed in Gaza since the genocide began. mahmoud_basal88 (IG)" - Source
Around 1:30 a.m., an Israeli airstrike struck an apartment in the ground floor of Al-Asala residential building, opposite Al-Yaziji Bakery west of Haider Roundabout in western Gaza City. Five people were killed including four women: a Christian mother and daughter, along with another mother and her daughter.
This massacre brings the death toll of Palestinian Christians killed by Israel in the Gaza genocide to 30.
The IDF justified the massacre by claiming it was targeting a senior Hamas official who it claims was residing in an apartment "used for terror activity, inside a residential building".
