Around 1:20 am, as Israeli jets were flying intensely over Gaza on the eve of October 7, Israeli forces had acrried out a strike on people near the northern gate of Kamal Adwan hospital. According to the local press, while first responders were heading to the area, a second Israeli attack injured young Civil Defense crew member "Abu Loay" who succumbed to his injuries shortly after.

The Civil Defense crew member who was killed was an eyewitness to and provided first-hand documentation of massacres during the genocide in North Gaza and Gaza City, including the maassacre of his colleagues and journalists.
