Event Notes

Land theft and and settler attacks on Al-Shuyukh

Ash-Shuyukh, in the northern area of Al-Khalil, is experiencing an organised settlement-outpost expansion since June 2025.

On 18 June 2025, settlers established a new outpost on privately owned Palestinian land in Ash-Shuyukh.

According to the municipality:

  • They brought approximately seven mobile homes (caravans).
  • They erected tents and brought livestock.
  • The land was privately owned by Palestinian families.
  • The threatened area covered dozens of dunums. One landowner, Yousef al-Halaika, said his family had official ownership documents for approximately 48 dunums affected by the outpost.

On 14 April 2026

A group of armed settlers, set up a tent on Palestinian-owned land. They entered a Palestinian home and attempted to seize it. They threatened the residents by shoting into the air. Israeli forces then arrived and dispersed Palestinians using tear gas and sound grenades. The municipality's executive director, Fadi al-Ayaydeh, explicitly described the tent as an attempt to impose a fait accompli.

It seems that the settlers didn't succeed in occupying this particular house. The reports say the residents prevented the seizure.

On 18 June 2026, Israeli authorities issued demolition orders against nine inhabited Palestinian houses in the Qanan Nias area of Ash-Shuyukh. According to the mayor, Hassan Halaika, the owners had previously received stop-work notices, despite having submitted documentation relating to their building permits. The houses salted for demolition belonged to Abdul-Razzaq Abu Eid, Muhammad Ayaydeh, Arwa Ayaydeh, Izz Al-Din Ayaydeh, Abdullah Abu Eid, Hassan Muhammad Abu Eid, Elias Jabarin, Ali Suleiman Ayaydeh, and Ayed Ayaydeh.
